Rooney could be played as lone striker against Slovenia.

England boss Fabio Capello looks set to call a team meeting in the next 24 hours to discuss his team's poor performances in the World Cup so far.

And it seems that striker Emile Heskey will be in for a tough time as Capello tries to find the reason behind their failure to win the opening two games and get Wayne Rooney back to his best for the Group C decider against Slovenia on Wednesday.

Capello’s normal routine of naming the team two hours before kick-off will also be discussed as it has been reported that it puts added pressure on the England team and especially on the three goalkeepers.

Former England Graham Taylor stated that he felt there was a problem between management and the players, and goalkeeper David James, although not commenting specifically on the management, is showing some concern about Capello’s methods by the tone of his voice during interviews.

England go into Wednesday’s game with Slovenia needing a win and as it stands the players will again not know the line-up beforehand.

Capello must also decide upon who will partner John Terry in defense, and whether Steven Gerrard will support Wayne Rooney, who may be deployed as a lone striker.

Capello has, however, accepted that Rooney’s form is a key issue and will warn him to avoid a repeat of the outburst that followed the end of Friday's abject draw against Algeria.
